Fresno Dome Hike Description

Sometimes, you want a quick sightseeing excursion, and the Fresno Dome Trail checks that box. Wander through a mixed conifer forest before the exposed path opens to the granite outcrop. If you don’t mind doing a bit of scrambling, you will surely enjoy this trek. Note that granite can be extremely slippery when wet, so exercise caution. Additionally, the exposed overlook can be incredibly hot in the summer, so wear sun protection! Lastly, make sure your camera is charged as the panoramic views are unparalleled in their beauty.

Setting out from the trailhead, the Fresno Dome Trail heads south through the mixed pine forests, along a sandy route adorned with granite boulders. Enjoy the tree shade while you can because eventually, the path will open, revealing epic views. Shortly the route will exit the forestlands and onto the large granite slab decorated will hundreds of small boulders. Mind your footing on the uneven terrain, and you will soon be rewarded jaw-dropping views of the High Sierra.

From atop the granite outcrop, you will be granted 360-degree panoramic vistas of the Sierra National Forest and the Sierra Nevada summits that protrude from the verdant woodlands. After marveling in the uninterrupted sights, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
