The Tharp’s Log and Huckleberry Loop will make an excellent addition to your hiking itinerary if you are seeking an easy-going adventure. Explore the great outdoors and revel in the beauty of the diverse flora that adorns the landscape. Make sure you change your camera, and if you are seeking a more secluded experience, explore in the early morning or late evening. Note entrance to the park costs $35USD per vehicle or $20USD per person for pedestrians or cyclists.

Embark on your journey along the Tharp’s Log and Huckleberry Loop from the trailhead off Crescent Meadow Road. Setting out from here, follow the High Sierra Trail over Crescent Creek to a stunning overlook of the luxuriant meadow. Here, hook onto the Crescent Meadow Loop Trail before diverting right onto the Tharp’s Log Trail. This scenic path will guide you along Long Meadow through giant sequoias to Tharp’s Log. Explore the rustic cabin, then follow the Tharp’s Log Trail past the Chimney Tree and along the northern boundary of Crescent Meadow.

At the trail’s end, merge onto the Huckleberry Trail. Admire the beauty of the third and final meadow along this route, then turn left at the next intersection. Hike this route south, then turn left and wander along the shoulder of Crescent Meadow Road back to the trailhead and parking lot.
