Piedra Ice Fissures Trail Description
Whether the aim of your hike is to get a good spot of exercise or to investigate some fascinating geological features, the Piedra Ice Fissures Trail is a spectacular adventure that isn’t too difficult, but will surely provide a few hours of outdoor fun.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the southwest and almost immediately begin climbing uphill. After working your way through the forest landscape, you will arrive at the top of a rocky and rugged ridgeline.
Here, you will continue along the ridgeline to the southwest while exploring a series of massive fissures that dissect the sandstone terrain and hold snow well into the summer months. After reaching the end of the ridge, simply turn back along the trail to once again traverse the rugged terrain on the return leg back into the trailhead.
