The Centennial Peak Hike is a physically challenging adventure in the San Juan Mountains that will lead you up to the summit of a rugged and rocky peak. While out on the trail, you will climb uphill through the forest to reach Sharkstooth Pass, before making a steep and rocky ascent of Centennial Peak for incredible views. Hikers should take note that the road leading into the trailhead is a rugged dirt road that will require a 4x4 vehicle with high clearance to safely traverse.

The trailhead for the Centennial Peak Hike can be found 20.1mi northeast of Mancos, along Forest Service Road 346.

Centennial Peak Hike Description
Featuring a good mixture of laid back and challenging terrain, as well as gorgeous views of the surrounding San Juan Mountains, the Centennial Peak Hike is an exceptional adventure that will allow you to truly experience the wilds of Colorado.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will head to the southeast through the beautiful forest landscape, taking some time to revel in its natural beauty, before breaking out into the alpine landscape. Here, you will make the steep climb up to Sharkstooth Pass, before turning to the south towards Centennial Peak.
Continuing uphill to the south, you will traverse some rocky terrain that features steep drop offs on either side. Be sure to take your time through this section, as you make the steep ascent of Centennial Peak and soak up the incredible views of the surrounding San Juan Mountains, including Hesperus Mountain to the southwest. After taking in the views, carefully backtrack along the same trail to return to the trailhead where you began your adventure.
