The Palm View Peak Trail is a great hiking route in the San Bernardino National Forest that features a solid elevation gain and scenic views. While out on the trail, you will climb up the steep slope of the mountain and meet up with the Pacific Crest Trail, following it up to the summit for a rewarding day on the trails. Hikers should take note that, while the summit of Palm View Peak is overgrown, there are areas close by to take in some wonderful views.

Palm View Peak Trail Description

If you are after a fun hike in Southern California that is well-balanced in terms of beautiful landscape views and challenging terrain, then you will definitely enjoy the Palm View Peak Trail. Make sure to appreciate the views throughout the hike, as there isn’t a spectacular vantage point from the summit.

Setting out from the trailhead on Fobes Ranch Road, you will follow the winding road uphill to the northeast for a short distance, before branching off onto a footpath to the right. Here, you will begin to seriously gain some elevation, as you traverse the slopes of the mountain and experience beautifully scenic views of the SoCal landscape.

Reaching the top of the ridge, you will meet up with the Pacific Crest Trail and follow it to the right in order to make your way up to the summit of Palm View Peak. Once there, you will find that the terrain is a bit overgrown, so do a bit of exploring until you find a spot close by with some nice views. Once you have finished, carefully head back down along the same trail to return to the trailhead.
