Snake Creek Pass and Clayton Peak Description

The Snake Creek and Clayton Peak Trail is a gorgeous hike in the Brighton Resort area. This trail is challenging with a steep climb up to the top of Clayton Peak. Proper hiking footwear and lots of water is necessary for this route. We also recommend bringing along a set of hiking poles to aid your ascent and save your knees some strain on the way back down. The final thing you’ll need to bring on this hike is a camera; the views along the trail and from the top of Clayton Peak are absolutely incredible.

Beginning at the Brighton Lakes Trailhead, follow the Clayton Peak Trail southwest to a junction with a 4WD road. Take a left at this junction and head northeast to a divide. This divide marks the beginning and end of the loop up to Clayton Peak. Take a right at the divide to hike to the top of Clayton Peak then head down the other side of the summit to loop back to the 4WD Trail. From here, simply follow your footsteps back to the trailhead.
