Lower Hell Canyon Description

The Hell Canyon Trail is a short hike to a fantastic viewpoint overlooking Salt Lake City, Utah. This trail may be short, but it is a consistent uphill climb that will make you break a sweat! Hikers should arrive with proper footwear and hiking poles if they require assistance or support. Dogs are allowed to join you on this hike, but they must be kept on leash the entire time. The views from the top of this trail are absolutely stunning! The hike up will earn you sweeping views of Salt Lake City below and, for an especially spectacular view, try this hike at sunset.

From the trailhead, follow the switchbacks all the way up to the top where the trail divides in two. Take a rest at the viewpoint at the divide and enjoy the Utah landscape, or the sunset as the sun dips below the Salt Lake City horizon line.

If you are looking for more to do, you can continue along the trail to historic Ensign Peak nearby.
