The Liberty Park Loop is a lovely stroll through the beautiful and historic Liberty Park in central Salt Lake City. This path is stroller and wheelchair accessible, so it’s a great way to get out and get some fresh air with the whole family. Even your four-legged family members are welcome on this trail as long as they are kept on leash at all times.

The Liberty Park Loop is a relaxing walk that is fun for the whole family. This area is very popular with walkers, cyclists, runners, and dogs, so be prepared to share the trail. This trail is not rugged or incredibly adventurous by any means but is a great place to stretch your legs and get some fresh air in the heart of the city.
On your walk around the park, be sure to check out some of the main attractions, including the Tracy Aviary, where you can learn all about birds from far and wide. If history is your thing, stop by the Isaac Chase Mill, the oldest standing industrial building in Utah. The Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts is another fantastic stop; this free museum hosts a beautiful collection of contemporary folk art from all over the state. With a playground, lots of picnic spots, volleyball courts, and more, Liberty Park is a vibrant locale in the heart of Salt Lake City.
To hike the Liberty Park Loop, start at the parking lot and follow the path as it traces the park’s circumference.
There is so much to explore along the Liberty Park loop, but when you’ve had your fill and are ready to head home, continue along the paved path until you wind up back at the parking lot.
Trail Highlights
Isaac Chase Mill
Finished in 1852, the Isaac Chase Mill is the oldest standing commercial building in Utah. This Mill was owned by Isaac Chase and Brigham Young and provided flour for the people of the Salt Lake Valley for many years before it was sold to the state and subsequently preserved as a historic site.
Chase Home
The Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts is a publicly owned museum that features contemporary folk art from all over the state. Admission to view this wonderful collection is free for everyone. The Chase Home Museum also hosts workshops, kid-friendly craft days, and rotating exhibitions by local artists.
Tracy Aviary
The Tracy Aviary and Botanical Gardens is a wonderful facility with a wide variety of avian exhibits. The Aviary also hosts bird shows, as well as educational talks every week. This is a great place to go with kids and learn about both local and exotic birds!
