The Bonneville Shoreline Trail from the University of Utah to Emigration Canyon Road is a great hike for the whole family. This section of trail does not have a ton of shade, so be sure to lather on the sunscreen, wear a good sunhat, and bring along lots of water, especially if you are hiking at the peak of summer. This trail is used by hikers, bikers, and trail runners, so when you are hiking, be sure to keep your eyes and ears open and allow faster folks to pass you by. Dogs are welcome to join you on this trail but must be kept on a leash at all times. The Bonneville Shoreline: University of Utah to Emigration Canyon Road is a lovely way to spend a morning or an afternoon enjoying nature without venturing out of the city.

From the trailhead on Colorow Road, follow the connector trail east to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Then, take a right onto the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and follow the path southeast for 1.5mi to Emigration Canyon Road. Once you see the road, simply turn around and follow your footsteps back to the trailhead where you began.
