Bear and Nymph Lakes Hike Description

The Bear and Nymph Lakes Hike is a wonderful, family-friendly, immersive nature walk in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Walk around the perimeter of one of the park’s most scenic, and popular lakes to a small alpine lake which sits in a basin hemmed by craggy peaks. Note this area of the park is extremely trafficked, so arrive early to secure a parking spot or take the RMNP free shuttle. Don’t forget, a park pass is required to utilize the trails!

Begin your journey around the Bear and Nymph Lakes Hike from the Bear Lake Trailhead. From here, hike counterclockwise along the Bear Lake Trail around the lake’s perimeter. Trek around the scenic lake that is ringed by towering pine trees. As you walk, keep an eye out for Tiger Salamanders swimming in the waters. Loop around the lake and when you return to the trailhead, merge onto the Nymph Lake Trail. Ascend the gravel path up to the charming alpine lake. From the lake shore enjoy views of the looming snow-capped peaks.

Explore the lake’s shore, and when you are ready, retrace your steps along the Nymph Lake Trail back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
