Shipler Cabin Trail Description

The Shipler Cabin Trail is a scenic adventure. Hike along the running waters of the Colorado River weaving through meadow-cloaked paths and towering pine trees to the remains of the historic cabin. As this path weaves between tree shade and exposed terrain, it is recommended to wear layers as insurance against changing conditions. It is also worth noting that there are often deer and elk spotted along this path, ensure to give them plenty of space if you encounter them! Located within the Rocky Mountain National Park, visitors are required to purchase a park pass.

Beginning from the Colorado River Trailhead, trek the Colorado River Trail north. Walk the meadowed path along the running river through the Coyote Valley. As you travel north, you will be rewarded with sights of the Never Summer Wilderness. The path will eventually weave you beneath the coverage of pine trees. Follow this path along the river all the way to the Shipler Cabin.

Explore the remains of the old mining cabin and revel in the verdant pines above. Rest here, and when you are ready, retrace your steps along the path back to the trailhead.
