Adams Falls Hike

Easily manageable by children and novice hikers alike, the Adams Falls Trail is a crowd favorite. This stimulating hike will guide you to the falls which overlook Grand Lake below. Expect to share the path with fellow outdoor enthusiasts, but if you are hoping for a more secluded hike, consider an early morning weekday adventure. Nevertheless, the trail’s scenery is beautiful, and the cascades are mesmerising. Note that because the hike is located within the Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), visitors are required to purchase a pass.

From the trailhead, take the East Inlet Trail south. Hike through the forested path and enjoy the sights of the towering pines interspersed with the odd aspen. As you ascend the path the terrain will become increasingly rocky. Eventually you will confront an intersection, you can complete this loop from either direction, but we prefer to hike counterclockwise. Veer right here and you will be diverted onto the Adams Falls Loop Trail.

Soon after the junction you will meet the waterfall. Enjoy the relaxing ambiance of the Adams Falls and the sights of Grand Lake and the Front Range peaks that line the horizon. Enjoy the falls, and when you are ready continue trekking around the loop. At the next fork you can turn right and head along the East Inlet Trail to a grassy meadow where there are often moose and deer spotted grazing in the foreground of the snow-capped peaks. If you are ready to return, head left down the East Inlet Trail, merging back onto the trail you ascended. Simply retrace your steps along this path back to the trailhead.
