Ros Castle and Hepburn Wood Walk Description
Although the woodland section of this adventure is a bit rugged, overgrown, and tricky to navigate, the Ros Castle and Hepburn Wood Walk is still a great adventure for those outdoor enthusiasts looking to experience the natural beauty and history of Northumberland.
Setting out from the car park, you will follow along the road to the northeast, eventually branching off to the left on a steep uphill climb. Here, you will reach the summit of Ros Hill, where you will find the remnants of a fort and enjoy sweeping views that include seven different castles on a clear day.
After taking in the views, you will head back downhill and traverse the rugged moor to the southwest, before arriving at the edge of Hepburn Wood. Entering into the forest, you will descend the hillside and navigate the overgrown trails to the north on the return leg back into the car park.
