The Gribdale Gate Walk is an amazing outdoor excursion in North York Moors National Park that will see you traverse some rugged terrain for spectacular views. While out on the trail, you will make your way to the Captain Cook Monument, working around the rugged terrain of the moor and traversing several steep climbs that will produce beautiful views across the park. Make sure to wear proper walking boots with good ankle support, as there are a few steep climbs along this route in addition to some stone steps that can be very slick in wet weather.

Gribdale Gate Walk Description

If you are looking to experience both the natural beauty and local history of the North York Moors, then you will certainly want to check out the Gribdale Gate Walk. This fantastic trail will take you to the Captain Cook Monument that is dedicated to the famous explorer who spent his childhood nearby, before taking you across the rugged terrain of the moor.

Setting out from the Gribdale Gate car park, you will head to the south and climb gently uphill through the tree cover and across the moor to visit the Captain Cook Monument, before turning to the east to continue along the forested trail. From here, the route will turn to the north and traverse the undulating landscape, taking you through a series of descents and climbs that will showcase the rugged nature of the moor. Continue on as the path loops around the barren moor to the southeast, once again descending the hillside to bring you back to the car park where you began your adventure.
