Echo Lake via Greenwater Trail

Echo Lake can be accessed on Greenwater Lakes Trail, which also allows you to see Greenwater Lakes and the surrounding mountains. The trail is well-kept and easy to follow, providing no technical challenges or major considerations unless it’s early in the season and snow might be obscuring the trail in sections.

Begin by taking the Greenwater Lakes Trail south from the parking lot. Following alongside (and crossing) Meadow Creek, enjoy the babbling water. You’ll arrive at Greenwater Lakes, continuing past them to dip south over Meadow Creek, passing the Lost Creek Backpacking Site.

Coming to a fork in the trail, keep left. A moderate section eventually gives way to a bit of climb up to Echo Lake. The trail wraps around the south end of the lake. This area is recovering from the Norse Peak Fire, so the landscape is likely to change consistently in the coming years.

You can keep going on this trail, but this is the turnaround point for most. Retrace your steps to the trailhead.
