Many people take the Jasper Skytram to get to the jumping off point for the Whistler’s hike. Skipping the Skytram adds distance and elevation while saving money. You can put in the work to reach the Whistlers by hiking all the way up on the beautifully-maintained trail.

The Whistler's Trail Description

The trail to Whistler’s peak begins in the parking area below the Jasper Skytram. Many hikers choose to take the tram to avoid much of the elevation and reach the alpine while keeping their energy in the bank.

The trail starts off with steep switchbacks that even out and traverse the mountain while crossing underneath the tram 1.6mi from the trailhead. More switchbacks will loop you back around towards the Summit Restaurant which is at the top of the Jasper Skytram. You will find extensive trail signs and a clear path to finish your hike to the Whistler’s summit.

Make your way back the way you came, and if your legs can’t handle the descent, you can always purchase a one-way ticket to head down on the tram.
