The Westside Legacy Trail is a 14.8mi point-to-point hiking route in Invermere, BC, connecting to Fairmont Hot Springs to the south via a multi-use trail. This route is popular with hikers and mountain bike enthusiasts; however, the long, flat, and well-maintained trail is perfect for families with young children and hikers with limited mobility. Unless you are planning on completing this as a very long out-and-back hike, remember to arrange a method of transportation to get back from the end of the trail.
Getting there
To reach the parking area for the Westside Legacy Trail from Invermere, head south on 13 Avenue for 1.2mi and continue onto Westside Road. After 1.1mi, you will reach the parking area and the trailhead.

Westside Legacy Trail Description
Hiking the Westside Legacy Trail is a fairly lengthy affair; however, the relatively flat terrain helps speed up the entire process. Along the route, you will find several parking lots with washroom facilities that serve as excellent starting points if you are not keen on completing the trail’s entirety.
From the north parking lot in Invermere, the trail travels south through the Columbia Valley. It provides some great opportunities to capture the natural beauty of the river valley and surrounding mountains. You will pass through several different landscapes along the paved trail, including sections of forest and open plains. Make sure to keep to the side of the trail and allow any passing cyclists to make their way around you safely. Eventually, you will arrive at the southern parking lot in Fairmont Hot Springs, where you can meet up with your pre-arranged method of transportation for returning home.
