Mount Swansea Tower is a 3.8mi lollipop hiking route in the Swansea Mountain Recreation Site near Invermere that will take you uphill to reach a scenic viewpoint. While this trail doesn’t climb all the way up to the summit, it still offers an impressive sightline over the Columbia Valley, the city of Invermere, and the Purcell Mountains. This area is popular with mountain bike enthusiasts, so make sure to leave ample room along the trail to allow them to pass safely.
Getting there
To reach the trail to Mount Swansea Tower from Highway BC-93 in Invermere, turn onto Cooper Road and continue for 1969ft. Make a right onto Westrock Mine Road and keep straight for 2.8mi. Turn left onto Swansea Mountain Road, and you will arrive at the parking area in 394ft.

Hiking the Mount Swansea Tower trail is a great way to get some exercise and observe the natural beauty of the landscape surrounding Invermere. This hiking route climbs steadily uphill through intermittent forest cover to arrive at a viewpoint overlooking the Columbia Valley. From the tower, you will have a sweeping sightline that reaches out to the rugged Purcell Mountain Range to the west, with the picturesque waters of Windermere Lake right below you.
With fairly easy terrain and a minor elevation gain of just 1178ft, this is a fantastic option for casual hikers and families looking to get out and explore the outdoors. Hikers that want to extend their trek can continue up the trail for a few hundred meters to arrive at another viewpoint at the summit of Mount Swansea.
