 Lookout Rock Hike Description

Get outdoors and reconnect with nature as you hike the Lookout Rock Trail. This lovely excursion in the Jackson Hole explores a swathe of wilderness occupied by ponds, lakes, lush forests, and blossoming meadows. With little elevation change, this route is ideal for families with younger children and novice hikers. It is important to be vigilant as you hike; this trail is located in bear country! Make sure at least one person in your group has a can of bear spray within reach. Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.

Your adventure along the Lookout Rock Hike from the Christian Pond Loop Trailhead. The Christian Pond Loop Trail travels over the North Park Road before nearing the banks of the pond. Here you will likely notice waterfowl enjoying the environment. Soon you will encounter an intersection, veer left here, and follow the Christian Pond Loop Trail to another junction. At this point, you will turn right onto the Emma Matilda Loop Trail, which meanders along the shoreline of the beautiful lake. Marvel in the impressive panoramas from Lookout Rock, then take the Oxbow Bend Trail south.

This stunning path will guide you beneath the tree canopy of mixed pines and through exposed meadows that offer impressive views of the Teton Mountain rising from the valley. Eventually, the route will reconnect with the Christian Pond Loop Trail; retrace your footing along this path back to the trailhead.
