Inspiration Point and Canyon Loop Hike Description

Family-friendly and undoubtedly one of the most scenic locales in the park, this revered route is sure to be busy. Those seeking a more tranquil experience are encouraged to head out in the early morning to beat the rush! If you are planning on taking the shuttle across the lake, refer to the Jenny Lake Shuttle Service website for pricing and hours of operation. Note the shuttle service charges a fee in addition to the park entrance fee. Those who plan to hike, simply trek the Jenny Lake Loop Trail to the dock and plan for a longer excursion. Make sure you or someone you are hiking with has a van of bear spray, just in case!

Embark on your trek from the Jenny Lake Boat Dock. Setting out from here, the hike follows the Boat Dock Trail before merging briefly onto the southbound Jenny Lake Loop Trail. After a few steps, explorers will turn right onto the South Cascade Creek Trail, which will deliver you to the Hidden Falls intersection. Take a detour along the Hidden Falls Trail up to the mesmerizing waterfall that plunges over 100ft from Cascade Creek. After admiring the falls, head back out to the junction, and turn left onto the Inspiration Point Trail. From Inspiration Point, you will be granted breathtaking views of Jenny Lake, the Jackson Hole, and distant sights of the Gros Ventre Mountains.

Follow the Inspiration Point Trail into the mouth of Cascade Canyon, then take a sharp right onto the Horse Trail to String Lake, which will demand the navigation of switchbacks down to the lakeshore. At the shoreline, turn right, and you will be diverted onto the Jenny Lake Loop Trail, which will ultimately deliver you back to the boat dock.
