The Stone Mountain Hike is a rockin’ good time. Get it? Anyways, hike up the scenic forested trail before reaching the granite outcropping. Hike along large boulders and through a small granite canyon before summiting the stone peak. This path will surely get your heart rate up, but the scenery is well-worth the sweat.

Stone Mountain Hike Description

Hike through the rocky wilderness on the Stone Mountain Hike. Leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and disconnect on this lovely day-hike. This path is wonderfully scenic, but it is not without its challenges. The first few miles of the trek are the toughest, climbing steep grades and rocky terrain, but stick with it. The trail’s incline will become increasingly gradual as you near the summit. This path will get your blood pumping, but the views from the top will make you forget all about your tired feet. Make sure you pack water and wear layers!

Begin your journey up the Stone Mountain Trail from the parking lot. The Stone Mountain Hike travels up steep terrain the first few kilometers of the route, but don’t be discouraged, it will level out. Hike up the steep terrain and navigate the switchbacks up the ridge. Hike up through the ponderosa pines and the trail will become increasingly exposed. Travel along the rocky path you will eventually meet an intersection. Stay straight on the Stone Mountain Trail. Hike up the final segment of the trail to the summit. Pass granite outcroppings and small rocky canyons before you summit the mountain.

Enjoy the views from the Summit of Stone Mountain and notice Sheep Mountain in the northwest. Admire the mountainous landscape before beginning your descent. When you are ready to return, backtrack along the path to the parking lot.
