Mount MacFarlane Trail Description
The Mount MacFarlane Trail is a challenging hiking route in the Fraser Valley that climbs uphill to visit Pierce Lake before continuing on to the summit of Mount MacFarlane. With an elevation gain of 5899ft, this trail is a bit of a grind; however, the strain on your legs is absolutely worth it when you experience the spectacular views from the summit.
The first portion of the trail doesn’t offer much in the way of views, but it becomes far more enjoyable at Lower Pierce Lake. You’ll navigate a small boulder field, fields of wildflowers, and two lakes before approaching the summit. After scrambling your way up the peak, you will be rewarded with awesome views that look out over the lakes that you just hiked past, as well as the numerous mountain ridges that frame the landscape. This tough 12.0mi trail can certainly be hiked in a day, but can also be completed as an overnight trip with a stay next to the lake, making for a fun night of camping up in the mountains.
