Kelly Pocket Trail Description

Kelly Pocket Trail is a bit of a hidden gem near Flagstaff. This hike leads you into a canyon where pools of water, sandstone caves, and lots of wildlife can be found. It’s a fun hike for a hot summer day, but conversely, not the best hike after a monsoon. It’s a scenic adventure that doesn’t get very busy.

This route feels a bit like a small slice of the Pacific Northwest in northern Arizona. There are plenty of spots to sit down, relax, wet your feet, and let the dogs or kids play. Bring water and consider wading shoes, too.

From the trailhead, hike south to the 4-way junction and take a right. The route will link up with the creek and follow it down into the canyon. The route meanders through the canyon, so take your time and enjoy all the unique corners you find, lingering to check out the caves and pools. The route ends at a junction, where you’ll turn back and retrace your steps.
