Fisher Point via Fay Canyon Description
Fisher Point is a lovely viewpoint into Walnut Canyon, a historic canyon just outside of Flagstaff in the Coconino National Forest. Walnut Canyon is quite beautiful, and you can appreciate the layers of rock visible in the canyon walls from Fisher Point. There used to be a pueblo community living in this canyon.
You’ll begin at the Canyon Vista Campground, traveling on Sandys Canyon Trail. Bear left to hike along Lake Mary Road. You’ll pass a ranch, and you may also pass horses on the trail. The footing in the canyon can be a bit uneven due to horse traffic, so watch your step.
Continue as the route drops down into Fay Canyon. From here, the route is pretty straightforward: you’ll follow the canyon as it approaches Fisher Point. Where Skunk Canyon meets, go right, then take two lefts to reach the trail that leads up towards Fisher Point. Take some time to admire the view before retracing your steps to the trailhead.
