Exmoor Circular Walk Description

Walking the Exmoor Circular Trail is a fantastic adventure that will suit the needs of anyone looking for a longer distance route with stunning views of the Bristol Channel that stretch out to South Wales. This walk features a good amount of elevation gain and some sections of trail that will be a bit rugged or uneven under foot. Be sure to wear proper walking footwear with good support and bring plenty of supplies (snacks, water, extra clothing) to comfortably traverse the trail.

Setting out from the trailhead near the Minehead Harbour, you will walk along the shores of the Bristol Channel for a short stretch before climbing uphill through the forest. Eventually, you will break free of the tree cover and head to the west across the undulating landscape, passing by North Hill and Selworthy Beacon, as you enjoy some spectacular views of Exmoor National Park and the Bristol Channel. After descending the hillside near Bossington, you will turn to the south and traverse the open countryside, passing through several quaint villages until you once again enter into a serene stretch of woodland terrain. From here, you will head east across the Somerset countryside, climbing uphill through another forest and passing back through the town of Minehead on the return to the car park where you began.
