The Bull Creek Reservoirs via Lake of the Woods Trail is a laid back family hiking route near Grand Mesa, Colorado that will take you to several charming bodies of water. While out hiking the trail, you will pass through meadows and beautiful stretches of woodland terrain filled with stunning aspen trees, before arriving at the Bull Basin Reservoir and Bull Creek Reservoirs. This is an excellent trail if you are looking to take in the natural beauty of the forest, just make sure to bring plenty of bug spray!

Whether you are new to hiking, a seasoned outdoor enthusiast, or camping in the area and are looking for a laid back trail to explore the forests of Grand Mesa, Colorado, the Bull Creek Reservoirs via Lake of the Woods Trail is a fantastic adventure that will be sure to meet all of your needs.

Setting out from the parking area, you will head to the northwest and enter into the thick cover of the woods, taking in the tranquil woodland setting as you descend slightly to cross over several creeks. Keeping right at the junction in the trail, you will climb slightly uphill and skirt around a small pond on your right, before making your way to the southeast.

Here, you will come to a junction next to Bull Creek, and can take either path to visit the reservoirs that are the final destinations on the hike. Heading left first, you will follow the path along the shoreline of the Bull Basin Reservoir No.1, before heading back to the south to visit the two Bull Creek Reservoirs for some lovely views across the secluded woodland lakes. After taking in the views, make your way back along the same trail to the west to return to the parking area.
