Geological Overlook Trail Description

The Geological Overlook Hike is a wonderful adventure filled with Denver’s highlights. Trek along the rocky route enjoying sights of the city and the unique geological features that protrude from the landscape. Note this path undulates and there are a few steep segments, but if you don’t mind some scrambling, it’s worth it. The sights of the Red Rocks, the Ridges below, and the city are unparalleled. , From atop the Geological Overlook Trail enjoy these popular destinations from a different perspective. As you travel through the arid terrain it is important to keep an eye and ear out for rattlesnakes.

Embark on your adventure along the Geological Overlook Trail from the trailhead. Even from the trailhead, you will be granted views of the Dinosaur Ridge and the cityscape. Enjoy the sights and track northwest along the exposed terrain. Be mindful of your footing as you navigate the rocky path. Notice Mount Morrison towering above as the route curves southwest. As you trek south, you will be rewarded with sights of the Red Rocks and the amphitheater.

Admire the red geological features that border the city and the impressive musical area that attracts thousands.Revel in the views and turnaround at the trail’s end. To get back to the trailhead, backtrack along the route.
