If you are seeking a short, but scenic hike in the Denver area, then we have you covered. The Brother’s Lookout and Three Sisters Loop is a wonderful nature walk near Evergreen that delivers expansive mountain views, wildlife, and intriguing rock outcroppings. Whether you are an intrepid adventure or just starting out, this hike is sure to impress all those who venture it. The limited elevation gain and manageable terrain invites younger hikers too! Kids will love exploring the giant rock sculptures that dot the countryside and often attract boulderers. Note that there are rattlesnakes in the area, so keep an eye and ear out for them as you travel the paths.

Embark on your adventure around the Brother’s Lookout and Three Sisters Loop from the trailhead. From here, take the Sisters Trail up to the intersection where you will turn left onto the Ponderosa Trail. Trek along this path, taking a detour up to the top of Brother’s Rock, which boasts views of the Mount Evans Wilderness and its snow-capped peaks. Return to the Ponderosa Trail and follow this path until the next junction. Here, turn right and you will be diverted onto the Sisters Trail.

Hike this path through the meadowlands, enjoying sights of the Elephant Butte in the northwest. Soon the trail will curve you east and up the Three Sisters Rocks. Revel in the grandeur of the outcroppings and explore the summit which often holds a basin of water. From here notice Evergreen Lake and the Lakehouse in the northeast before descending the rocks. Navigate the switchbacks through the ponderosa pines that sit atop the outcropping and hike south along the Sisters Trail. This route will guide you all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your nature walk.
