While the lookout that Dante’s View Trail ends at is incredible, it is surrounded by steep hillsides and sheer cliff faces. It is therefore important that you are mindful of where you are walking when enjoying the views. Keep an eye on young children and do not go too close to the cliff edges.

The best part of Dante’s View Trail is undoubtedly the scenery you can enjoy throughout it. The route overlooks many of the characteristic landmarks in Death Valley National Park, including the Badwater Basin Salt Flats and Telescope Peak. Dante’s View Trail is also usually a more comfortable temperature than many hikes within Death Valley National Park, as the higher altitude makes it much cooler than the valley below.

Having parked your vehicle, locate the trailhead at the southern section of the parking lot. Dante’s View Trail is extremely straightforward, as it follows a southern heading along a well marked path for its entirety. Following the designated pathway along the ridgeline, the trail will bring you to an excellent lookout location. Once you have enjoyed the views, backtrack your steps towards the trailhead.
