Great Staple Tor and White Tor Trail Description

The Great Staple Tor and White Tor Walk is a popular trail in the heart of Dartmoor National Park for anyone looking to bag a few tors and visit some interesting historical sites in the process. Setting out from the car park, you will head across the road and traverse the stone-littered summits of Little, Middle, and Great Staple Tor before continuing through the undulating terrain to the northeast. Shortly after traversing Roos Tor, you will pass by the remains of a Bronze Age settlement that features a number of stone huts that once belonged to the early settlers of Dartmoor thousands of years ago. From here, you will turn to the west to summit White Tor – the site of an ancient hillfort – before continuing to the south across Cox Tor on the return leg of the journey back to the car park.
