The Upper Muley Twist Canyon Trail is a beautiful hike in a low-traffic area of Capitol Reef National Park. This trail has it all: narrow canyons, sandstone arches, and incredible panoramic views. Navigating this trail can be quite the workout, and the drive in is an adventure in itself but this trail is a fantastic way to sample a little bit of everything that Capitol Reef National Park has to offer.

The Upper Muley Twist Canyon Trail is a beautiful, challenging hike over diverse desert terrain. The trailhead for this route can only be accessed with a high-clearance, 4WD vehicle. If you only have access to a 2WD and/or low-clearance car, there is an earlier parking area where you can leave your vehicle and hike or bike to the official start of the trail. This hike is a gorgeous tour of Capitol Reef National Park. You will find yourself hiking past graceful sandstone arches, through narrow slot canyons, and along trails with stunning desert views.
