The Cassidy Arch, Frying Pan, and Cohab Canyon Trail is a beautiful point-to-point hike in Capitol Reef National Park. This trail has some steep climbs so wear proper, supportive footwear. We recommend bringing hiking poles along to save you some strain on the ascents and descents. This route gets very hot in the afternoon sun; start early in the day and bring more water than you think you’ll need. The Cassidy Arch, Frying Pan, and Cohab Canyon trail is a great way to get out and see a whole lot of Capitol Reef National Park in one day. This hike will give you epic views, tons of opportunities to explore and, not to mention, a really good workout!

From the Cassidy Arch Trailhead, follow the path northeast for 0.2mi to a divide. Take a sharp left at the divide to head west. Continue westward for 1 mile to the next divide, take the trail on the left for a quick out-and-back hike to Cassidy Arch. Continue along the main trail to a third divide and take a left to loop down Cohab Canyon heading west. Descend the steep switchbacks at the end of the canyon to wind up at the Cohab Canyon Trailhead.

Catch a ride home from the trailhead, or if you’re feeling adventurous, spend a night camping under the stars at the Fruita Campground across the road.
