Sulphur Creek Waterfall Trail Description

The Sulphur Creek Waterfall Trail is a lovely hike that starts and ends at the Capitol Reef Visitor Center along highway 24. Depending on the season, you will likely have to get your feet wet along this route so wear shoes that grip and drain well. Hiking sandals are perfect for this trail. This area can be very dangerous in the event of a flash flood—do not attempt this hike if there is rain on the horizon and turn back if you see clouds building. The Sulphur Creek Waterfall trail will lead you past three beautiful waterfalls as you navigate the creekbed. This hike is a great place to go to cool off on a summer day.

From the Visitor Center, follow the trail westward. This route is not marked with signage, but just follow the creek and you can’t get lost. Continue along the creek past three waterfalls.

Once you reach the third waterfall, you will see the trail split off away from the creek. This is a good spot to turn around and head back out to the trailhead at the Visitors Center.
