Rim Overlook Trail Description

The Rim Overlook Trail is a great hike with beautiful views of Capitol Reef National Park. This trail has a steep and steady incline, so be prepared with proper footwear, lots of water, and hiking poles if you need them. The hard work is totally worth it though, the panoramic views of the Utah desert just get better and better as you continue to climb. Don’t forget the camera on this hike—the photo-ops on this trail are unreal.

From the Hickman Bridge Trailhead, follow the path a short ways to a divide. Take a right at the divide to continue up the trail. About half a mile past the divide there is a great viewpoint overlooking the Hickman Bridge. Continue westward from that viewpoint for about 1.3mi to the Rim Overlook.

Take a long rest at the Rim Overlook and soak in the incredible views of Capitol Reef National Park Below. When you are ready, turn back and follow the same route down to the trailhead.
