Woods Quarry Loop Trail

The Woods Quarry Loop Trail is an exciting and magical nature walk near Chautauqua Park. Travel through verdant forest and grasslands as you walk along a quintessential Colorado mesa. This path is a great lunch break escape or weekend adventure into the wilderness. Open year-round, trade your hiking boots for snowshoes in the winter months. Note that when you hike this route in the summer months it is important to be mindful of rattlesnakes, so keep an eye and ear out. Additionally, when hiking in the warmer months, avoid an afternoon adventure to beat the heat, and the crowds for that matter!

Embark on your adventure along the Woods Quarry Loop Trail from the Enchanted Mesa Trailhead. From here, hike south along the Enchanted Mesa Trail across a small stream before ascending the mesa. At the intersection, keep right and you will be diverted onto the McClintock Upper Trail. Now beneath the shade of sweet-smelling ponderosa pines, you will eventually encounter an intersection with Mesa Trail. From here, turn left onto the Mesa Trail before merging onto the Woods Quarry Trail. Hike this woodland path, enjoying the shade, and you will eventually hook onto the Kohler Mesa Trail.

Travel along this route, merging onto the Enchanted Kohler Spur Trail at the next junction. Reconnect with the Enchanted Mesa Trail, hiking north before turning left, reconnecting with the McClintock Upper Trail. At the next intersection, keep right and follow the McClintock Upper Trail back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
