Baseline Trial

The Baseline Trail is a must-add to your Boulder adventure itinerary. As you trek through the Boulder Open Space, you will be in the company of several other like-minded outdoor enthusiasts enjoying the wilderness. Travel through the lush meadowlands and keep an eye out for grazing deer camouflaging in the grass. In the summer months, it is important to be mindful of rattlesnakes sunbathing on the warm path. Note that parking is limited at the trailhead; the park charges a fee during peak season, so we suggest walking in from the city center.

Begin your adventure along the Baseline Trail from the trailhead off Kinnikinnick Road. From here, keep right and you will be guided along the Baseline Trail through the grasslands. Walk along the wide dirt path, which reveals wonderful sights of the Flatirons looming above. Eventually, you will encounter an intersection with the Bluebell Baird Trail, turn left onto this path. Hike south through the sparse shade of ponderosa pines and at the next junction, veer left onto the Ski Jump Trail.

The Ski Jump Trail will guide adventurers east back into the grasslands. Follow this route, merging left onto the Chautauqua Trail, which will deliver you back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
