The Orchard Camp via Mount Wilson Trail is a great hiking route in the Angeles National Forest that offers some beautiful views overlooking the city. While out hiking the trail, you will steadily gain elevation and take in the amazing Southern California views, before arriving at an historic camp along the trail. Make sure to bring bug spray along for this adventure, as there are sure to be plenty of insects along the trail.

Whether you want to hike this trail for the history or to take in the beautiful views overlooking Los Angeles, the Orchard Camp via Mount Wilson Trail is a great option for exploring the rugged landscape of the Angeles National Forest. The trail was originally built by the grandfather of General George Patton, Benjamin Davis Wilson, around 1852, and was later turned into a recreational trail
Setting out from the trailhead, you will follow the path leading uphill to the north and into the mountains. Here, you will begin to get your first views of the city, as you work through some steep terrain and cross over some streams. Eventually, you will arrive at the site of Orchard Camp, an historic site along the trail that marks its endpoint. From here, simply turn back and follow the route back downhill to return to the trailhead.
