The Crystal Lake to Throop Peak Hike is a lengthy hike in Angeles National Forest with some pretty incredible views. While out on the trail, you will steadily gain elevation as you work your way into the San Gabriel Mountains, where you will enjoy sweeping views that stretch out to Catalina Island in the southwest and Nevada in the East. This is a long and challenging hike, so be sure to arrive prepared with proper hiking boots and trekking poles, as well as plenty of water and snacks to stay fueled.

For those who enjoy pushing it to the limit for some rewarding views, the Crystal Lake to Throop Peak Hike is an amazing route to check out in the Angeles National Forest. This hike will see you traverse some mountainous terrain for an incredible sightline out to Catalina Island.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast, climbing uphill until you reach the Windy Gap, just below Mount Islip. Here, you will head east along the ridge and climb up to Mount Hawkins.
Take some time to appreciate the incredible sprawling views, as you continue to push further uphill to the summit of Throop Peak. After reaching the endpoint of the hike at the summit, carefully turn back and follow the same route to relive the beautiful scenery on the return leg.
