Antelope Spring Loop Trail Description
While the Antelope Springs Loop Trail is a well-revered mountain biking track, it has recently become discovered by intrepid hikers exploring what the Grand Tetons National Park has to offer. As this route is shared, it is important to be mindful of passers-by and to be respectful of other adventurers. Additionally, as with all pathways in the area, bear encounters are possible—bring a canister of bear spray and make sure you know how to properly use it! This trail is poorly signposted in areas, so make sure you download the trail GPS before departure. Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.
Setting out from the trailhead, follow the Shadow Mountain Road eastwardly. This winding route will gradually climb through the mixed-woodlands and meadows up the southern slope of Shadow Mountain. After some hiking, you will eventually reach the summit, which boasts breathtaking views of the snow-capped Teton Mountains that rise above the Jackson Hole. Marvel at the beauty of the landscape, then merge onto the Shadow Mountain Trail. Now hiking off the road, the single-track trail will divert you west, down the mountainside.
Being mindful of fellow explorers and wildlife as you trek, you will ultimately reach an intersection with the East Boundary Road. Here, veer left and meander along the shoulder of the southbound route to the Antelope Dispersed Campsites. To get back to your vehicle from here, simply hike up the Shadow Mountain Road.
