Stonewall Pass via Stoney Ridge Trail Description
Leading hikers through various terrains, this stimulating adventure will not disappoint. Put your endurance to the test as you hike up through the alpine terrain along Stoney Creek to the mountain basin bounded by three craggy summits. We love this hike, and we know you will too! Note the route is rocky and uneven, so a pair of sturdy footwear is required! Note winter excursions, though equally as enchanting, are more challenging—so make sure you are properly equipped.
Embark on your trek along the Stonewall Pass via Stoney Ridge Trail from the Stoney Ridge Trailhead. Setting out from here, you will be led north on the Stoney Ridge Trail, along Stoney Creek. The initial segment of the route will wander through mixed forestlands before opening to the montane meadows. Mind your footing on the rocky terrain as you climb, and be sure to stop and admire the expansive views along the way. After navigating a set of seemingly never-ending switchbacks, you will summit the Stonewall Pass.
Notice Red Mountain in the west, Middle Peak towering above, and Granite Peak in the east. Appreciate the grandeur of the mountainous landscape, and when you are through reveling in the scene, retracing your steps back to the trailhead.
