Devil’s Bathtub Hike

The Devil’s Bathtub Hike is unparalleled in its beauty. Explore the Sierra National Forests high country and revel in the grandeur of the encompassing mountain ranger. As this route travels through the high country, it is important to be mindful of altitude storms that are common in the afternoons. Additionally, much of the path is rocky and uneven, so we encourage you to wear sturdy footwear—you’ll thank us later!

Embark on your adventure along the Devil’s Bathtub Hike from the trailhead off Kaiser Pass Road. From here, follow the Devil’s Bathtub Trail northeast into the forestlands. Mind your footing on the rocky terrain as you climb, and you will soon reach the Twin Meadows. Now primarily exposed, you will meander through the meadowlands before intensely climbing the rocky ridge to the alpine lake.

Now in a mountain basin, you will be overwhelmed by the views of the Devil’s Bathtub and the imposing snow-capped summits. Notice Graveyard Peak in the northeast and Saddle Mountain in the west. Revel in the beauty of the looming craggy peaks and the crystalline waters. To get back to the trailhead, simply retrace your footing along the path.
