Getting there
To hike the Headquarters Canyon Trail, park along Burr Trail Road at the parking pullout just southeast of the Surprise Canyon Trailhead.

The Headquarters Canyon trail is a fantastic hike through a gorgeous little slot canyon. This hike should not be attempted if there is any chance of rain in the forecast. Flash flooding along the Headquarters Canyon Trail could be extremely dangerous. Save this route for a dry day and enjoy the trail without worry. The Headquarters Canyon Trail is really a hidden gem in Capitol Reef National Park. This low traffic hike takes you through a narrow slot canyon just off of Burr Trail Road. If you are looking for a quick and unique adventure in the Park, this trail is perfect for you.
From the parking pullout along Burr Trail Road, head southwest to the mouth of Headquarters Canyon. Continue down the canyon until you reach the end then turn around and retract your steps back out.
