Range View Loop Trail Description
Get into the fresh air as you venture along the Range View Loop Trail. Easy to navigate, incredibly scenic, and family-friendly, this adventure is a crowd favorite, so expect to share the path. If you are seeking a more secluded experience, consider an early morning weekday hike to try and beat the crowds. This exposed terrain reveals epic vistas of the Indian Peaks Wilderness, but it also warrants windy weather conditions, so we suggest wearing layers as insurance. Note that parking at the trailhead is extremely limited and costs $5USD.
Departing from the trailhead, the Range View Loop Trail tracks northeast along the Range View Trail. This section of the hike will guide adventurers along a meadow-cloaked ridge trail, which exposes panoramic views of the snow-capped Front Range peaks that line the horizon. You will have to navigate a small set of switchbacks as you trek along the western flank of Flagstaff Mountain. Eventually, you will meet the trail’s end at an intersection with the Ute Trail. From here, take a sharp right turn onto the Ute Trail.
From here, enjoy sights of the Boulder cityscape below before hiking southwest along the Ute Trail. Track along the south side of Flagstaff Mountain all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your charming nature walk.
