Cheesman Park Trail Description
Perfect for jogs, bike rides, or post-brunch walks, the Cheesman Park Trail is a lovely natural getaway smack dab in the middle of the state’s capital. As much as we love exploring the city, green spaces are always a welcome distraction. With the lack of a water feature, many people say this is the perfect picnic area, as there will likely be no geese or ducks begging for food! The flower garden right next to the park is also a must-see, revel in the vibrance of the wildflowers and grab brunch at the restaurant. This path is a wonderful nature walk, and we couldn’t recommend it enough.
Embark on your adventure around the Cheesman Park Trail from the trailhead on the southeast side of the pavilion. From here, track north along the path, passing the impressive pavilion on your left, and flower garden on your right. Soon you will have to cross over High Street. After crossing the intersection, maintain along the inner trail, curving around the open green space. At the next junction keep right, crossing over High Street again. From here, track around the northern perimeter of the park before guiding you south.
Hike along the eastern perimeter of the park, crossing twice more over High Street and trekking along the southern perimeter. From here, cross E 8th Ave, over to the Little Cheese Park, and hike counterclockwise around its boundary. Cross E 8th Ave again before reconnecting with the Cheesman Parks trail and hiking north, all the way back to the trailhead.
