Raincliffe Woods Circular Walk Description
Walking the Raincliffe Woods Circular Trail is an amazing excursion that will allow you to experience the natural beauty of an ancient stretch of forest within the North York Moors. While there are a few steep climbs along the trail, these will be manageable for walkers of most skill levels and are a minor price to pay for the chance to explore the beautiful landscape.
Setting out from the trail head, you will head to the east along the forested path and make your way past the calm waters of Throxenby Mere. From here, you will climb up the steep hillside and follow the trail as it heads west along the divide between forest and field.
After reaching the southwest corner of the route, you will descend the hillside and turn back to the northeast, taking some time to appreciate the mature trees and diversity of plant life that makes this area so unique and beautiful. After passing through a small meadow, you will arrive back at the trailhead where you began your adventure.
