The Hope Mountain Trail climbs steeply uphill along a mixture of forest service road and dirt-packed trail to reach the summit of Hope Mountain. This 14.8mi out-and-back route is lightly travelled due to the difficulty involved in reaching the trailhead, but the views from the peak are absolutely stunning. On a clear day, hikers can expect a breathtaking sightline that stretches across the Fraser Valley and down south into the United States.
Getting there
To reach the start of the Hope Mountain Trail from Hope, drive east on BC-3 for 3.7mi and use the right lanes to take exit 177. Continue on for 1.0mi and turn right onto Mount Hope FSR. After 2789ft, you will find a parking area on the left.

Hope Mountain Trail Description
The Hope Mountain Trail is a challenging out-and-back hiking route near Hope, BC that takes hikers up to an amazing viewpoint overlooking the Fraser Valley. This 14.8mi trail climbs uphill along a forest service road before turning west for the steep ascent to the peak. Hikers with a 4×4/high clearance vehicle will be able to skip the section along the FSR and start their hike at the Hope Mountain trailhead.
Once you have reached the summit of Hope Mountain, you will be greeted with breathtaking views in every direction. To the north, you will see the city of Hope below and the coursing waters of the Fraser River, and to the south you will find Silver Lake Provincial Park and a vast range of undulating mountains that stretch out across the Canada-United States border.
