This exciting excursion travels from the valley floor up to the southern rim, so be prepared to do some climbing. This adventure can be completed as a hefty day-hike or an overnight adventure, but no matter how you complete this hike, we can guarantee you will be impressed by the panoramic views that bombard trekkers. Note: a sturdy pair of footwear is required, as well as plenty of water and snacks. Sections of the path can also become slippery from the rain or waterfall mist, so exercise caution in these areas. Setting out from the Valley Loop Trailhead in Curry Village, head west along the Valley Loop Trail. Here, you will wander along the base of the sheer cliffside through meadows and along streams, before diverting southeast up the Four Mile Trail. Carefully navigate the vertiginous switchbacks up the valley wall, past Union Point, and up to Glacier Point. Revel in the impressive vistas of Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Clouds Rest, and more. After taking in the views, follow the Panorama Trail south, down to Illilouette Falls and Panorama Point.

When you reach Panorama Trail’s end, veer left onto the John Muir Trail. Follow this route over Nevada Falls, then take another left onto the Mist Trail. Carefully descend the Mist Trail down Nevada and Vernal Falls to the Mist Trailhead. From here, head left along the Valley Loop Trail which will ultimately guide you back to the trailhead.
