The walk from Ravenseat to Keld and Muker is a fantastic journey through some of the most charming terrain in Yorkshire Dales National Park. When out on the trail, you will walk along the valley floor and visit a series of waterfalls, while taking in the stunning views of the surrounding hills and moorland terrain. This is a wonderful point-to-point adventure that will allow you to really experience the landscape of the dales.
Getting there
To reach the trailhead for the Ravenseat to Keld and Muker Walk from Kirkby Stephen, drive southwest along Victoria Square/B6259 for 1.2mi and turn left onto B6270. Follow this for 6.7mi and turn left to continue on for 0.2mi. Make another left here and follow the road for 1.1mi to arrive at the starting point of the walk.

If you want to experience some of the most scenic views that are characteristic of the terrain within Yorkshire Dales National Park, then you will want to check out the Ravenseat to keld and Muker Walk. This charming adventure at the northern end of Swaledale will lead you through the valley and provide gorgeous views of waterfalls, hills, and moors, giving you a real insight into the natural beauty of the area.
Setting out from the trailhead at Ravenseat Farm, you will initially head northeast across Whitsundale Beck to meet up with the trail, following it as it bends towards the southeast. Continue on along the sloping hills of the moor, where you will eventually meet up with the banks of the River Swale. From here, follow along the water’s edge to the east, as you pass by the powerful waters of Wain Wath Force, Currack Force, Catrake Force, and East Gill Force that can be found in and around Keld.
After experiencing the beautiful views of the various waterfalls along the river, continue onto the southeast and take your time as you work your way through the picturesque dale. As you make the final approach into the village of Muker, you will travel through a narrow corridor that is flanked by the rugged moorland hills of Kisdon on your right and Black Hill on your left. Continue along the River Swale until it brings you to the endpoint of the walk in Muker.
