Horse Head Moor and Deepdale Walk Description

The Horse Head Moor and Deepdale Walk will get your heart pumping as it provides some challenging terrain. Beginning at the Riasgill Farmhouse, you will follow along the path that is marked, Halton Gill. Continue along this path, past the area of land known as “Hagg” and onwards to Hagg Beck. Walking along the ridge, take in the expansive views, and if you look close enough, you will be able to see the trees that have been planted to replenish the area.

Moving on, you will come across a gate located at the top of the pass. Turn right after passing through the gate and head towards the wall to lead you to the trig point. When you arrive at the trig point, you will be rewarded with breathtaking, panoramic views of the Three Peaks.

After taking in these spectacular views, head back through the gate and turn left. You will then be walking along the moorland ridge, passing a gate and a stile. Another gate will take you right on the footpath towards Beckermonds with views of Greenfield Forest to your left. As you continue, you will reach the River Wharfe, which you will follow towards Deepdale, where you will turn right into the hamlet. Continue along and follow the Yockenthwaite path until you come to the place that you began, as this is a circuit path.
