Buckden Circular Walk Description

While there may be some sections of uphill walking along this route that won’t be suitable for everyone, there are some truly beautiful views along the Buckden Circular Walk that sweep across Wharfedale Valley and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales landscape that you won’t want to miss. Additionally, parking at the trailhead costs £4.80 for the day.

Setting out from the car park in Buckden, you will head north and immediately begin climbing uphill along the lower slopes of Buckden Pike. After traversing the countryside and taking in the sight of Middle Falls in the northeast corner of the trail, you will backtrack for a short distance to make your way into the village of Cray. Here, there are several other waterfalls just a few minutes further up the river that can be enjoyed, as well as the White Lion Pub, where you can grab some mid-walk refreshments.

From here, you will traverse the valley floor to the southwest on the way to the village of Hubberholme, where you can visit the Church of St Michael and All Saints before crossing over the River Wharfe. Head to the southeast and follow along the winding banks of the River Wharfe that will eventually bring you back to the trailhead in Buckden.
